August 2025 Sam co-organized a symposium at the European Society of Evolutionary Biology (ESEB) conference taking place in Barcelona. The symposium, titled “Evolutionary Genomics: Understanding and Adapting to Climate Change,” is co-organized by the editors of the journals Evolutionary Applications and Molecular Ecology. Check out the symposia details here.
31 July 2025 Sam collaborated with several colleagues in the field to co-edit a special issue on the “Ecology of Gene Expression” which is now published online in Molecular Ecology. Read our Editorial here.
Our recent paper on immune response and gene expression variation in Lycaeides butterflies was also part of the special issue. Read our paper and many others here.
June 2025 Sam and Vineesha attended the Society for the Study of Evolution (SSE) meeting in Athens, GA. Vineesha presented her first (!!!) poster at the conference, which was focused on her dissertation research on quantifying wing sizes from digitized museum specimens.
06 Aug 2023 The lab finished a successful field season in April-May this year. Sam collected several B. philenor and A. californica samples from California. We then set out to Texas to collect B. philenor and their native Aristolochia host plants from Texas. We had a really great time collecting several butterflies and native Aristolochia species in Texas.
09 Aug 2023 Sam’s paper on the Battus philenor hirsuta genome is just published in Journal of Heredity. This is Sam’s first paper from her postdoc with Dr. Noah Whiteman at UC Berkeley. This project is funded by the California Conservation Genomics Project. Read more about this amazing initiative to conserve California’s biodiversity here – CCGP project.
01 Aug 2023 Chaturvedi lab is open for business! Sam, Kehinde, and Vineesha just arrived at Tulane and are ready to take over the semester.
